Hello Readers

I guess it took plagiarism to get me back in to this site and poking around.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of my readers and followers. I post like once a year these days, and it’s gratifying to see my material is still being read.

I started this blog in 2012, and since then have had around 820k views and 150k visitors. I know for the regular caption sites that’s chump change, but I’ll take it. Even with no new content there’s around 2,500 views a day. Obviously the highest volume years were when I was actively posting Virt here. Here’s the traffic chart. I’ve had 2000 views since I posted yesterday.

So people do continue to read, and I appreciate that.

An update on my end: I am still “in retirement” from writing. I’m actively transitioning, and am out everywhere but at work (and that soon). It turns out I’m more genderfluid/non-binary than I thought I would be; my comfort zone is more skinny jeans than sundresses. Maybe that’s a product of where I am in my transition. I’m just not in a place right now where I feel terribly sexual, though, my connection to my body is changing and confusing.

I don’t think I’ll be in a frame of mind to return to writing any time soon – I still have a few years of shaking out what this means for me in the real world. There’s also just the craziness of the current world that makes focusing on fantasy hard. Black Lives Matter is finally gaining traction (as it should) and we are in for some big changes here in the states. COVID isn’t done with us yet either. And neither is Trump.

Take care everyone, stay safe and be well!

Melody

I guess I Should be Flattered (or, Who The Heck Pirates TG Material Anyway?)

Hey folks! Hope you’ve all been well. Me posting here doesn’t mean I’ve written anything new – I’m still in retirement, doing other things RL (…well, actually, I’ve got a new project coming, but you have to scroll down to the penultimate paragraph for the spoiler) (Edit: no, I don’t – it’s a joke and I’m not very good at telling them).

I decided to post because I had a WTF moment today. Another author I admire emailed me today pointing out that Caroline Bradlieu has ripped one of my older novellas, Nano, 99% verbatim, and republished it as A Man Becomes A Woman.

I would be flattered if she hadn’t given it such an execrable title.

Why might I think there may be a little bit of plagiarism? Well…here are my opening paragraphs:

I’d been riding the cunt pretty hard, these past two days, I thought to myself as I tightened the leather straps that pulled her elbows together behind her. She grunted but said nothing as I pushed her down, her face against the floor of the van. I clipped her collar to the retaining ring set in the floor, patted her ass and climbed out of the van.

I’d ridden her hard, but it was worth the work. My client would be happy. Two days ago she’d had a brutish, nasty, philandering millionaire of a husband. Now that bastard would suffer a complete reversal of fortune. My client was now, for all intents and purposes, John Maynard the third, esquire, etcetera, while her husband was now the pretty young wife the idiot was stupid enough to ignore.

The girl in the van who days earlier had been John was now Natalie Maynard. She had a complete set of her wife’s memories laid over her own memories of life as a man. But I’d modified her sexual and emotional makeup to fit much more closely the kind of woman she’d wanted to marry in the first place – a submissive, emotionally fragile fuckpet.

Here are Caroline’s opening paragraphs – I can’t copy/paste from Amazon’s preview so it’s an image.

So all you have to do to make a novel your own is change the names slightly, I guess.

In other news, my new series, “A Boy Becomes A Wizard”, which will chronicle the adventures of Harry Porter, will be coming out this fall. Stay tuned!

And…don’t forget to review Caroline’s book. I hear it’s pretty good.
